My first Video – Part of Quick Start Challenge 2014

Here is my very first video. I know I have a long way to go but at least I over came the fear to turn on my camera and make a short video. Here it is:

I know it is very amateur and my accent is crazy but I welcome every comment.

Great start and great job Reto. I need to sort out the technical issue on my part before I can start recording. I have a built-in camera on my pc but got to learn how to use and view (system prompted no support to view… so no clue… i thought i have it built-in so should be able to view right??!!). Anyway, wishing you all the best in this journey and have FUN! To your Abundance! 🙂

You did a great job Reto. I too am absolutely camera shy. I will create my video for the challenge tomorrow. I hope it turns out as good as your first. I will also be mentioning my experiences with the challenge through posts on my blog. Here’s to our success – May it come swiftly!

Hi Ken, I had the same thought this morning about creating my video tomorrow but than I just turned on my camera and did some try out and finally decided to keep the last one and to upload it to youtube. Don’t wait until tomorrow, do it now and you feel much better. To your success.

Hey Reto
I think you did a fantastic job. The QSC is now really starting to push me out of my comfort zone. I am dreading doing my video but I HAVE to get with the program.

Hi Reto,

I’ve never find it easy to put myself in front of a camera and speak. I would stammer and fidget. It’s not easy. I think you did a wonderful job with the short video presentation.

I’ll visit your blog again to hear your progress.

Hi Boon, see it’s even more stressful for me because English is not my first language. I had to redo the video a couple of times until I was “satisfied”. I hope you find the courage to get in front of your camera and do your first video. I wish you good luck.

Hi Reto,

Making a video is a big challenge for me because I do not feel comfortable in front of a camera. English is not my first language either but who cares if you have an accent.

The important part of making a video is that you deliver the message you want people to hear or make that instructional video that people can learn from.

In the weekend I will try to make a video in one take. Probably it will be more like 25 takes but I will make this video, one way or another.

Job well done Reto,

Success,
Frank

Hi Frank and thank you for your encouragement. I also had several takes until I finally decided to upload one version so that I was done with it. I am sure I have a lot to improve on my video skills but the starting point is set.
I wish you lots of success with this challenge.

Thank you Mary Ann, but I still don’t like cameras. At least I am glad I took action this morning and have it done for now. I am sure Dean will push us even more outside of our comfort zone in the weeks to come, but as long as we see success it’s ok to go this route.
I wish you lot’s of success with this challenge.

Hi Chris, thank you for your comment. I figured that the lighting should be better but I thought better doing the video as long as I am motivated instead of trying to make the whole environment perfect. Next time I will definitely pay more attention to the light.
    Thanks and good luck.

Reto – That was a very good first video. Don’t feel you need to apologize for your accent – your voice is wonderful, and your accent is very interesting and easy to listen to. I think just a few more videos, and you’ll have it nailed. I hear more and more blogger/marketers who say that once they got used to making videos they didn’t write any more. They just kept making videos.

Hi Teri, after making my video I was thinking that it is in fact much easier and faster to do a video instead of writing content. I might really consider doing more videos in the future.

Good job Reto, I am still in the process of doing my video but hope to get it up later today.

I don’t really have any issues with appearing on video as my previous job involved a lot of presentations. It’s just life getting in the way – doing shopping, walking the dog, helping my kids to build flat-packed furniture in their apartments etc…..

Anyway, good luck with the challenge and I hope it leads to greater things.

Best Regards,
Mike

Hi Reto, Great job on the video – well done. Your accent is wonderful and very ‘listenable’., no need to apologise for it. In fact it gave me courage because I am also camera-shy and think I have a funny accent. All the best for your success in QSC.

Hi Alayna, thank you for your comment and your encouragement. See, my biggest hurdle to get in front of a camera is the language, because I am not fluent in english and I probably still am thinking in swiss, and therefore I sometimes think it does not come out natural. I wish you also lots of success with the challenge and I will follow your blog to see your success as well.
    All the best
